Aleena Naeem Casestudy – International Women’s Day 2020

Aleena Naeem is currently in her first year at The Aston University Engineering Academy (AUEA) completing a BTEC Level 3 in Business, as well as studying for her A Level Mathematics. Having always planned to complete an A Level alongside her BTEC qualification, she discovered that AUEA would be able to provide her this opportunity and more. As well as having a great education programme, AUEA was also able to offer Aleena interaction with an abundance of connections in the business world, where she could go on to make her own connections, helping her both with her current studies and her career in the future.

“Whilst studying at AUEA I decided to set up a work experience placement to fit in around my education. I wanted to gain experience within a working environment, and I knew it would help me decide what career path I wanted to take once I had completed my studies.” Having met Rachel Green, INFRA Skill’s Business Development Manager at an AUEA Jobs Fair, they discussed what opportunities she would have access to through her Work Experience Placement. She was interested in working within both the Marketing department, as well as trying her hand at an admin-based role.

Having been working within INFRA Skills since the start of January 2020, coming into the office twice a week, Aleena is planning to continue her placement throughout the school year. She has been working with the training team develop her administrational skills, and well as attending an Employment Event in Birmingham with members of the team. She especially enjoyed attending the work event, and hopes she will be able to partake in more opportunities like this, as she is quite interested in pursuing a career within Events in the future. “As my placement continues, I hope I will have the opportunity to work within many different roles alongside different people, so I can gain as much varied experience as possible.”

Aleena is a very enthusiastic and hard-working individual, and has lots of hopes and aspirations for the future. She has been looking into completing a Degree-Level Apprenticeship in Marketing and Events or something similar after finishing her BTEC, planning to one day be a very successful business owner.

Aleena has been excelling within her work experience placement, enjoying the experience of a working environment and interacting with the different people within it. We are looking forward to seeing how she progresses over the next few months, and hope that this placement gives her a strong foundation of knowledge and skills to sit alongside her education, eventually aiding her to start on a very successful career path.
