Summary

This assessment for the COSS (Controller of Site Safety) must be undertaken during a probationary period of 4 months following the initial award of the competency. The assessment will be conducted on-track. After this, individuals will follow the standard 9-15 month interim on-track assessment procedure. Subsequently, they will attend a COSS recertification. The COSS Assessments can be scheduled during mid-week, night, or weekend shifts.

Aims & Objectives

The primary aim of the COSS Assessment is to ensure that candidates demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Network Rail Rule Book and the Railway Group Standards. Additionally, they should showcase their foundational knowledge in other areas of their qualification.

Requirements

Please note that the assessment cost does not cover Assessor’s Travel Expenses. A separate fee will be determined once the travel distance is confirmed. Mileage for on-site assessments is priced at £0.45 per mile.

Course Completion and Sentinel Upload

On Completion

When applicable, once you successfully complete your course or assessment, a member of our staff will update your competency in the Sentinel system. You can order your Sentinel smart cards directly from Sentinel at www.railsentinel.co.uk. Please note that this will incur an additional cost which you will be responsible for covering.
