Summary

This course provides competency for individuals who work independently, allowing them to undertake patrolling, inspecting, and examining (PIE). It also equips them with the skills to implement protection measures when working on sites or under line blockage situations.

Aims & Objectives

Upon completion of the IWA Initial course, participants will be proficient in interpreting the relevant sections of the Rule Book and the Railway Group Standards. They will demonstrate a clear understanding and capability to establish and maintain a safe working system when alone “On or Near the Line”.

Requirements

For the initial IWA certification, candidates undergo a 9-15 month on-track assessment. After this, a recertification course is mandatory every two years to ensure continued training and competence.

Course Completion and Sentinel Upload

On Completion

When applicable, once you successfully complete your course or assessment, a member of our staff will update your competency in the Sentinel system. You can order your Sentinel smart cards directly from Sentinel at www.railsentinel.co.uk. Please note that this will incur an additional cost which you will be responsible for covering.
