A qualified PC is responsible for organising any line blockage that requires the collaboration of more than one group. The PC liaises with the signaller to secure the block, after which any other Controller of Site Safety (COSS) intending to work within the block will register on the PC’s form.

Requirements

Applicants should possess a valid COSS certificate and have the endorsement of their Sponsor, who believes they are sufficiently mature and experienced for the role. Additionally, delegates need to provide verifiable evidence of undertaking at least 6 COSS duties in the past six months, in line with the Network Rail Approved Training Plan for PC.
