Summary

This course equips learners with the essential skills and knowledge to proficiently utilise and operate power tools commonly employed in the rail industry. The tools covered include: Rail Saw, Impact Wrench, Cembre Rail Drill, Cold Bolt Expansion, Cobra TT Tamping Tool, Generator, Lighting Rig, Chain Saw (for Cross-Cutting Timbers only), Geismar AC1 Rail Mounted Spike Extractor, Hand Trolley (all models), Iron Man, Rail Scooter, Brush Cutter, and CAT Scan.

Aims & Objectives

Upon completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Conduct inspections and pre-start checks.
  • Execute starting and stopping procedures.
  • Demonstrate the safe operation of the respective tool.
  • Identify and address defective equipment.
  • Understand and adhere to the safety protocols for refuelling small plants.

Requirements

All participants are expected to participate actively, and tickets must be renewed every two years to ensure up-to-date competency.

Course Completion and Sentinel Upload

When applicable, once you successfully complete your course or assessment, a member of our staff will update your competency in the Sentinel system. You can order your Sentinel smart cards directly from Sentinel at www.railsentinel.co.uk. Please note that this will incur an additional cost which you will be responsible for covering.
