Together, they explored the Construction Gateway Programme—a fully-funded training opportunity in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority. Dinesh recognized the program as a chance to gain valuable qualifications and experience in both rail and construction.
Training with INFRA Skills
Dinesh underwent the training program at INFRA Skills’ office in Aston, complemented by on-track experience at Adderley Park and the Severn Valley Railway in Bewdley. Guided by experienced trainers Steve Cox and Jordan May, Dinesh found their interactive teaching style engaging and inclusive for the diverse group of learners. Throughout the course, he had the chance to work for RSS Infrastructure (RSSI) and showcase his competencies. Dinesh’s hard work and reliability led to an immediate job offer from RSS Infrastructure upon completing the program.
Working with RSSI
Since joining RSS Infrastructure, Dinesh has had the opportunity to work in various divisions, including Track Access and Lighting, Arboriculture, and Fleet. His dedication and skill set were recognized by Graham Talbot, Head of RSSI Arboriculture, who encouraged him to complete his Chain Saw Ticket and consider joining the Arboriculture division. Dinesh is now focused on gaining more arboriculture qualifications and advancing his career within RSSI.
Future Aspirations
With an eagerness to progress, Dinesh envisions becoming a ‘White hat’ and a team leader within RSS Infrastructure. He also aims to apply for an apprenticeship with Colas Rail, aspiring to become a qualified Hand back Engineer or an OLEC3 Engineer. Dinesh’s dedication, attention to detail, and expanding skill set position him well for these roles. Moreover, he has recently applied to become a local councillor for the Black Country Party, aiming to advocate for the railway and transportation sector in the region.
