What were you doing before you started working at INFRA Skills?
“I qualified as a registered adult nurse in 2012. I began my career newly qualified as an Occupational Health Nurse at Jaguar Land Rover. During this time, I gained a University Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health. After 4 years, I moved into the NHS to work as a renal dialysis nurse for 2 years. I then decided my passion was within Occupational Health and returned to this sector. I worked for a large OH provider for around 18 months delivering remote OH services, before the opportunity came up to work with INFRA Skills. I have now been with INFRA Skills for over 2 years”.
Have you ever worked in the rail/civils sectors before working at INFRA Skills?
“I had not worked in the rail sector prior to joining INFRA Skills, although I carried out remote OH services for the construction sector. I had not worked in the rail sector prior to joining INFRA Skills, although I carried out remote OH services for the construction sector”.
What is your job role and responsibilities at INFRA Skills?
“At present, I am the sole Occupational Health Nurse at INFRA Skills delivering PTS Medicals and liaising with our responsible authorising physician where required. I have delivered training to my colleagues in order for us to deliver Drug & Alcohol testing to Network Rail standards. I take part in annual RISQ audits, ensuring our documents and process are up to date and ensure our practice reflects Network Rail standards. I also complete Medical self-declaration forms, providing advice on reasonable adjustments to the company when employee’s join”.
What are your plans for the future, and how will working at INFRA Skills help with these plans?
“We are currently looking at how we can expand our Occupational Health department to deliver safe, effective and quality services. INFRA Skills have given me the opportunity to attend training courses to enhance as well as utilise my previous skills and knowledge to arrange the delivery of future services”.
