Aims

This course provides learners with a basic first aid skillset so that they can identify incidents and manage them appropriately, whether the patient is conscious or unconscious. There will be both theory and practical elements to this course. This course includes: First Aid Priorities, Managing Incidents, Basic Life Support, Examination of a Casualty, Unconsciousness, Control of Bleeding, Burns and Scalds, Regulations, First Aid Kits, Recording and Reporting

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the role of an appointed person in reference to the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981
  • Maintain first aid equipment
  • Record and report accidents and injuries in the workplace (RIDDOR)
  • Perform basic first aid and life support in the absence of a First Aider
