Summary

This course, primarily funded by the Adult Education Budget (AEB) of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), offers participants the chance to gain a range of qualifications that pave the way for a career in Rail or Construction. Spanning three weeks, participants will attend sessions at our Training Centre with a Specialist Rail Training Area in Aston, Birmingham, from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Our experienced trainers will guide you through this comprehensive programme, ensuring you receive top-notch instruction every step of the way.

Aims & Objectives

This programme is meticulously designed to prepare adults for work, upskill current employees, and impart specialist training. Split into two phases over 15 days, Phase 1 (5 days) encompasses CSCS Level 1 Health and Safety, Emergency First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, and Fire Awareness. The core objective is to provide participants with the foundational knowledge and skills required to embark on a successful career in Rail or Construction. Additionally, candidates from the West Midlands will benefit from a guaranteed job interview with RSS Infrastructure upon completion.

Requirements

Applicants must be aged 18 or above and possess a genuine interest in forging a career in Rail or Construction. The following are mandatory requirements for admission:

  • A valid form of identification, such as a passport or a valid UK driver’s licence.
  • Passing a drug and alcohol test and a medical examination will be conducted at the Aston-based INFRA Skills office.
  • Commitment to punctuality and full attendance throughout the programme. Note: Random drug and alcohol tests will be administered during the course.

Course Completion and Sentinel Upload

On Completion

When applicable, once you successfully complete your course or assessment, a member of our staff will update your competency in the Sentinel system. You can order your Sentinel smart cards directly from Sentinel at www.railsentinel.co.uk. Please note that this will incur an additional cost which you will be responsible for covering.
