This course provides training on tasks that influence the geometry of the track. It introduces candidates to a wide range of work and component parts associated with the Network Rail infrastructure.

Aims & Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate their proficiency in using tools and equipment.
  • Showcase their understanding of Permanent Way terms and procedures.


Candidates must have a basic understanding of the Network Rail infrastructure. Knowledge of general railway operations will be an added advantage.

Course Completion and Sentinel Upload

On Completion

When applicable, once you successfully complete your course or assessment, a member of our staff will update your competency in the Sentinel system. You can order your Sentinel smart cards directly from Sentinel at www.railsentinel.co.uk. Please note that this will incur an additional cost which you will be responsible for covering.
