Innovation 50 Report

INFRA Skills, a prominent training provider specializing in rail and construction training, has achieved recognition in the esteemed Innovation 50 Report. Published by Mills & Reeve, a Midlands law firm, this biennial report acknowledges and celebrates the region’s most innovative businesses. INFRA Skills’ inclusion in the report highlights their commitment to revolutionizing safety procedures and enhancing competencies within the safety-conscious rail and infrastructure sector.

Innovation and Commitment to Safety

INFRA Skills and its sister company, RSS Infrastructure, have proudly secured a place in the Innovation 50 Report alongside other Midlands-based enterprises. Their selection reflects their outstanding innovation and dedication to improving safety standards in the UK’s infrastructure industry. INFRA Skills presented their pioneering ‘INFRA Card’ system, a QR-based cloud database that assesses workers’ competencies while reducing plastic waste and the potential for credential falsification.

Journey into Rail Programme

One of INFRA Skills’ notable contributions is the ‘Journey into Rail’ program, a comprehensive four-week course designed for seamless delivery. The curriculum combines various learning approaches, including e-learning and tutor-led sessions at their Birmingham-based Head Office. The fully-funded course encompasses Network Rail approved D&A and Medical assessments, full Rail-approved PPE, learning materials, Sentinel Card, and Non-Sentinel Competency Certificates. Successful completion guarantees an interview opportunity with RSS Infrastructure, while practical training takes place at their specialized facility in Bewdley and existing track infrastructure in Birmingham.

Innovative Safety Solutions by RSS Infrastructure

RSS Infrastructure, a multi-award-winning business, showcased their groundbreaking safety products and procedures during the Innovation 50 submission. Their revolutionary Driver Awareness Warning System (DAWS), utilizing retina-based scanning, combats fatigue among drivers, ensuring safe operations. Additionally, they developed an interactive HSQE Induction to foster consistent safety practices across their workforce, covering topics such as Health, Safety, Environment, Risk Management, and Personal Protective Equipment.

Acknowledging Midlands’ Trailblazers

The final selection of the Innovation 50 businesses was made by a panel of experts from across the East and West Midlands. Entries were evaluated based on originality and impact, resulting in a diverse range of Midlands-based innovators making it to the report. Mills & Reeve’s Head of the Birmingham office, Steve Allen, expressed pride in celebrating the region’s forward-thinking businesses and their problem-solving initiatives.

Conclusion

INFRA Skills’ well-deserved inclusion in the Innovation 50 Report serves as a testament to their commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability in the rail and construction sectors. By pioneering new training approaches and safety measures, INFRA Skills and RSS Infrastructure are actively contributing to the growth and success of the industry while ensuring projects are completed on schedule.
